What is Google Shopping?
When you search for a product in Google, the chances are you’ll see two elements related to Google Shopping in your search results. The first is a list of product thumbnails at the top of your search results page, the second is a tab for ‘Shopping’ at the top of the page.
Both of these are aimed at directly showing searchers products that they can buy online.
Google Shopping used to be called Product Listing Ads (PLAs) and that more accurately describes what it is. In the most simple terms, retailers send their product feed to Google via Google’s Merchant Centre and when those products are searched for, they are displayed in Google’s shopping results. If a user clicks through to your website from your PLA, you’ll pay for that click but that user has a high chance of converting.
